I made a small placemat for our molcajete so that our countertops would be protected from the heavy rock. I found a pattern I liked and mapped it out on graph paper. The pattern is made of 2 1/2” squares and half square triangles.

Sewing together the squares in each row. I used fabric from my scrap bin.

I quilted this with my domestic machine and finished it with a traditional binding. The molcajete fits perfectly.
