  • I took an online class called Pop-Art Pet Portraits from Craftymonkies. I thought my daughter and her boyfriend’s cat, cache, would be the ideal candidate since he has “that face”!

  • After doing a simple tracing on freezer paper, I cut out the the pieces and ironed them onto my chosen fabrics that were treated with a fusible product.

  • After fusing the face onto the background, I set in the eyes and nose.

  • Using invisible thread, I zig-zag stitched the edge of the pieces to prevent fraying.

I quilted the face on my long arm with a free motion motif, trying to stay with the same flow as the fur on his face.

The black outline is a technique called couching where you sew yarn to either outline an edge or use it as a filler.

  • Once the couching was done, I quilted the background with a grid pattern.

  • I added white embroidery stitches for the eye twinkles and the mark on his nose.

  • I attached the finished quilt to a 10” x 10” canvas.
