Because I can’t throw anything away, I have an enormous amount of fabric scraps. I found a scrap busting pattern called a String Quilt by Emily Dennis of Quilty Love. I grabbed hand fulls of scraps and cut them into strips in different lengths.

Using an 8.5” x 8.5” piece of newsprint as a foundation, I sewed strips on the diagonal. The first strip is always white and was sewn from corner to corner.

I enjoyed this pattern because you don’t have to measure or worry about matching up the strip sizes.

The back side of the “block” is the newsprint foundation.

The “block” is cut down to the newsprint size.

After the the block is cut, you pull the newsprint off.

Barnaby is keeping the work on schedule.

The blocks are set on point.

The constant white strip starts to form the diamond effect.

I quilted this on the longarm with a circular pattern called Soho.

This quilt was donated to the local Ruritan chapter to be given to a member of the community.
