I had some very big floral print left over from another quilt and I decided to use it for the main stars in this quilt called Pecking Order.

Instead of using one big square, I cut them up and sewed them back together for a different effect. I added a red corner to each individual square to form the star points.

I made this quilt for a donation so I took the opportunity to use it to practice my free motion quilting. I quilted swirls on the background blue.

I used my domestic machine to quilt line designs in the star area.

The overall texture came out very nice.

This is part of the back. I made a larger block and pieced together a design for the back. We’ve been talking about pieced backing in my quilt group and how it makes the quilt more interesting. I thought I’d give it a try on this one.
